Houston’s climate is similar to New Delhi’s, and our home soil gives us so many wonderful things. Most fruits and vegetables I grew up with are grown around here, and my intent with the Houston Harvest column for the Chronicle is to introduce folks to the idea of incorporating those in their daily meals — either by embellishing meat dishes or by eating vegetarian altogether. Essentially, in my own small way, I want to nudge people into moving meat off the center of their plates. And let’s face it, vegetables are our future. Recipes-wise, though they will mostly be focused on the use of spice-driven seasonal vegetable preparations, I will foray into additions of meat, seafood, grains and more. And of course, I will do my best to keep them home cooking friendly.
