Cloves are a fragrant spice with magical powers. If you eat cloves, they work as a natural mouth freshener and your body will naturally repel mosquitoes!
makes ~4 servings
1 cup white basmati rice
1 1/2 cups water
2-3 tablespoons ghee or olive oil
clove masala from below
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 each mace flower
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cardamom seeds
CLOVE MASALA: Roast in a 300F oven for 3-4 minutes or over a skillet in stovetop. Be carful not to over-cook or the spices will lose their fragrance.
Rinse the rice in lukewarm tap water 2-3 times. Soak in more water for an hour and up to 4 hours.
In a stockpot, combine the basmati rice, ghee or oil, clove masala and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and turn the heat down
Cook for another 6-7 minutes then turn the heat off. Let rice rest for 5-7 minutes and fluff just before serving.
