Heirloom Tomato Salad

This salad is good on its own and also makes an awesome side dish for grilled or roasted meats. 

makes ~3 cups


2 heirloom tomatoes, cut into thick slices

1 firm but ripe mango, chopped

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp ground cumin

¼ tsp chili powder

3 Tbsp mustard oil

½ tsp coriander seeds

3 Tbsp pistachios, chopped 

few sprigs of cilantro


  1. Lay the tomatoes on a serving platter.  Scatter the mango on top. Sprinkle with salt, ground cumin, and chili powder.
  2. Heat up the mustard oil & pop the coriander seeds. Drizzle on the tomatoes and mangoes. Garnish with chopped pistachios and cilantro sprigs.

ideas / variations

  • Add mild cheese like burrata or mozzarella.
  • Put on top of warm toast as a starter or toss with greens to make a salad.
